Can Cyberattackers Disrupt the U.S. Presidential Election?

    With news of the recent attacks on the Democratic National Convention,  many are questioning whether cyber attacks could materially impact the presidential election. The U.S. government is currently debating whether to treat and label elections as “critical infrastructure” as it does to major power grids and dams, but the impact of this label is questionable without a plan in place to implement an overhaul of current cyber security practices. Researchers at Black Hat, a large cybersecurity convention held in Vegas, claim that a breach of the election is possible, but the vulnerabilities aren’t where most would expect. Read more at CNET.com.
